Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka, Lahar Singh Siroya, criticized Congress leader Pawan Khera for allegedly trying to avoid legal consequences by fleeing to Hyderabad to escape the Assam Police. Siroya expressed concern over the limited safe havens left for Congress leaders in the country due to internal divisions within the party.
Siroya highlighted that Karnataka was not considered a secure option by Khera and pointed out the challenges he might face due to strained relations within the Congress in the state. He also mentioned the difficulties Khera could encounter in other states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where Congress alliances were reportedly strained.
Questioning the political support for the Congress party, Siroya raised concerns about potential risks in states like Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal. He suggested that Congress leaders might have to turn to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for assistance. Siroya further criticized the Congress for allegedly losing credibility and reliable allies across various regions.
Siroya also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning why Khera was not being encouraged to cooperate with the police. He referenced Gandhi’s “Daro Mat” (do not fear) message and inquired about its application in this scenario. Siroya questioned why Khera had not sought refuge at Gandhi’s or his family’s residence in Delhi.
