Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed regret at being unable to fulfill numerous requests to visit Beypore for campaigning in Kerala due to time constraints imposed by the Election Commission of India. Tharoor, covering multiple constituencies daily, cited his packed schedule and the need to adhere to the ECI’s allotted campaign time.
Responding to a plea from a supporter to visit Beypore, Tharoor acknowledged the potential boost his presence could offer to UDF workers in the area. Earlier, following an incident in Malappuram where his convoy was obstructed and a security team member assaulted, Tharoor reassured supporters of his safety and continued with his campaign undeterred.
Kerala is gearing up for elections on April 9, with the Assembly’s term ending on May 23. With approximately 2.70 crore electors, including male, female, and third gender voters, the upcoming polls are crucial for the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) amidst a strong challenge from the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gaining ground as a significant contender.
