Shaurya Binu, a golfer excelling in academics alongside his game, has secured Top-10 finishes in the past weeks on the African Swing. Recently, he surged to the top in the IGPL Invitational Congo with a remarkable 9-under64 round, holding a two-shot lead over his closest competitors.
Binu, aged 22 and pursuing a BBADegree at Kalinga University, demonstrated his golf prowess by carding a 1-under 72 in the first round followed by a spectacular 9-under round. His aggressive play style and progress since turning pro in 2023 have been noteworthy, with previous successes on the Indian Tour and strong finishes this season.
Teeing off strongly in the second round, Binu showcased his skill with a series of birdies and an eagle, finishing the day at 6-under at the turn and closing with a flourish on the back nine. Despite his lead, the competition remains fierce with four players, including Udayan Mane and Aryan Roopa Anand, trailing closely behind, all eager to claim victory.
