The Shiromani Akali Dal expressed satisfaction over the Supreme Court granting bail to senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a Disproportionate Assets case. The party highlighted that the bail signified the triumph of truth and exposed the alleged political vendetta by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann against Majithia. Senior Akali Dal leaders criticized the AAP government for its attempts to imprison Majithia and fabricate a false case, which they claim could not withstand legal scrutiny.

After the AAP government failed to produce evidence in a narcotics case against Majithia, the leaders accused the government of initiating a false Disproportionate Assets case. They predicted a similar fate for this case as the previous one. The Akali Dal leaders emphasized that the AAP government targeted Majithia to stifle his dissent against government policies and advocacy for people’s rights. They condemned the violation of Majithia’s human rights and vowed that Punjabis would retaliate against the misuse of power by the government to target political opponents.

The bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta granted bail to Majithia, considering his previous bail in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act case. The court noted that the Disproportionate Assets case dated back to 2006-2017, with the FIR filed in 2025, leading to the bail decision in Majithia’s favor.
