Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson and party MP, Sanjay Raut, criticized Maharashtra Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his handling of an acid attack on an 11-year-old schoolgirl in Ahilyanagar. Raut called for Fadnavis to resign from the Home Department if he has a conscience. Meanwhile, Congress Legislative Party leader, Vijay Wadettiwar, raised concerns over the increasing atrocities against women and young girls in Maharashtra.
Wadettiwar expressed outrage over the acid attack on the young girl from Ahilyanagar, questioning the state’s law enforcement effectiveness. He accused the government of failing to maintain law and order in Maharashtra, emphasizing the urgent need for improved security measures. Raut also criticized Fadnavis, suggesting that the government is neglecting crucial issues in favor of political agendas.
Both leaders highlighted the severity of the acid attack incident and the critical condition of the victim. They condemned the accused perpetrator’s escape and the apparent lack of accountability within the Home Department and local police. Wadettiwar specifically criticized the Superintendent of Police for alleged corruption, attributing such misconduct to the rise in criminal activities in the region.
Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Rahul Narwekar, called for immediate government action and a detailed report on the case. Raut further criticized the government for allegedly withholding funds from Opposition MLAs and MPs, accusing the administration of unfair treatment and financial discrimination.
