Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, remarking that defeat seems to follow him wherever he goes. Shinde labeled Rahul Gandhi as the leader of perpetual losers while targeting the INDIA bloc. Speaking at a rally for Shiv Sena’s 60th anniversary, Shinde contrasted PM Narendra Modi’s anti-corruption stance with the opposition’s perceived lack of will to win.
Shinde also commended PM Modi for becoming India’s longest-serving Prime Minister, highlighting his unblemished record on corruption. He credited PM Modi for key decisions like the construction of the Ram Mandir and the revocation of Article 370, fulfilling the vision of Bal Thackeray. At an NDA meeting, Shiv Sena was honored with moving a resolution applauding the Prime Minister.
Additionally, Shinde praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for effectively combating Left Wing Extremism in Maharashtra and implementing the decision to revoke Article 370. He speculated that Balasaheb Thackeray would have also lauded PM Modi and HM Amit Shah if he were alive today. This year marks the birth centenary of Balasaheb Thackeray, with Shiv Sena now positioned as the second-largest party in Maharashtra.
Shinde emphasized the role of ordinary Shiv Sainiks in expanding the party’s reach to every village, asserting that the party’s legacy is defined by ideology, not blood ties. He criticized those suggesting party mergers with Congress, urging them to address their own weakening positions before advising others. Despite opposition predictions of failure, Shiv Sena increased its MLA count from 40 to 60 through the dedication of party members.
Shinde dismissed rumors of discord with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, affirming the unity of the Mahayuti alliance. He expressed confidence in the alliance’s success in the Legislative Council elections and reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development. Shinde assured farmers of government support in potential drought situations, declaring their right to Maharashtra’s resources.
Encouraging party workers to focus on electoral preparations, Shinde highlighted the importance of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the appointment of more Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
