Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey criticized the Congress, labeling it a “tourist party” and asserting its lack of relevance in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Dubey highlighted his party’s three-decade-long dominance in Mumbai’s civic politics. The Congress recently announced its decision to contest the BMC elections independently. Dubey emphasized that while the Congress has the right to choose its election strategy, it should remember the support provided by Shiv Sena in previous elections.
Dubey pointed out that the Congress has not been significant in various states for several decades and has faced electoral challenges. Despite this, Shiv Sena supported Congress in 2019, but Dubey criticized Congress leaders for becoming arrogant once they gained power. He expressed confidence in Shiv Sena’s stronghold over Mumbai politics and predicted continued success in the city’s civic elections.
The BMC elections, set for January 15, are crucial, with results expected on January 16. Dubey confidently stated that Shiv Sena would maintain its winning streak. Discussions about a seat-sharing arrangement with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are ongoing, with an announcement anticipated soon. Dubey mentioned ongoing communication between Sanjay Raut and Raj Thackeray regarding seat-sharing details.
