The Sikh Regiment has entered into a partnership with Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) in Amritsar to support Agniveers through education and skill development. This collaboration allows Agniveers serving in The Sikh Regiment to pursue higher education while fulfilling their military responsibilities. Agniveers will have the opportunity to enroll in diploma programs lasting six months and undergraduate degree programs like BA, BCA, and B.Com that can be completed in three years.

The initiative aims to enhance the academic qualifications and professional skills of Agniveers, preparing them for both military and civilian career paths. This step underscores The Sikh Regiment’s dedication to the comprehensive growth and well-being of its personnel. It also aligns with the government’s vision of nurturing a skilled and educated youth workforce for national development.

The partnership signifies The Sikh Regiment’s commitment to the personal and professional advancement of Agniveers, emphasizing their growth even after their military service. After four years of service, a significant number of Agniveers are eligible for employment opportunities in various sectors upon discharge from the military. A quarter of these individuals are absorbed into the defense forces, while the rest re-enter society as motivated and skilled individuals.

The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has collaborated with the armed forces to formally acknowledge the skills acquired by Agniveers during their tenure in the military.
