The Special Investigation Team (SIT) presented a comprehensive final report before a court in Belthangady regarding the Dharmasthala mass burial case. The report, spanning 7,005 pages across 12 volumes, includes statements from 255 witnesses, forensic reports, and other crucial evidence collected during the investigation.
In addition to the extensive documentation, the SIT handed over a 4TB hard disk containing video statements of witnesses and various materials seized during the probe, such as skeletal remains, bones, and mobile phones sent for forensic analysis. The report submission was attended by key members of the investigating team, including SIT Superintendent of Police C.A. Simon and other inspectors.
C.N. Chinnayya, a significant figure in the case and one of the accused, along with his wife, appeared before the court during the report submission. The case, which originated from allegations of mass burials in Dharmasthala village, stirred public interest after claims of bodies being clandestinely buried in the area surfaced, leading to the establishment of the SIT by the Karnataka government for a thorough investigation.
