At least six people died, and over a dozen were injured in a suicide bombing during a wedding celebration in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The blast targeted the home of Noor Alam Mehsud, head of the Aman Committee, in Dera Ismail Khan district. The incident left Mehsud injured as well.
The explosion occurred during the wedding ceremony, causing panic and chaos among attendees. Many individuals were hurt and quickly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are still determining the exact nature of the blast, but initial investigations suggest it was a suicide attack.
Police reported that the attackers also fired shots after the bombing. Investigation teams and forensic experts spent hours at the scene gathering evidence to identify the perpetrator and uncover the network behind the attack. The severed head of the suspected 17-year-old suicide bomber was recovered for forensic examination and identification.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi strongly denounced the suicide blast and demanded an immediate report from the provincial police chief. He instructed authorities to ensure the injured receive top-notch medical care. Afridi vowed to bring those responsible for the attack to justice, labeling the incident as “unfortunate.”
