SOBO Mumbai Falcons’ player Shreyas Iyer attributed their fielding and bowling comeback after the Power-play for their first win in the T20 Mumbai League 2026. They defeated MSC Maratha Royals by three wickets in a thrilling match at the Wankhede Stadium. The Falcons restricted Maratha Royals to 152/9 with Akash Parkar and Yash Dicholkar taking three wickets each.
“It was an exciting game. The highlight was our fielding – the catches, stops, and the comeback after the sixth over. That was crucial for us. It changed the momentum and restricted them to 150,” said Iyer post-match. Aditya Tare’s aggressive 42 and Shreyas Iyer’s 30 were instrumental in the Falcons’ victory.
Veteran Tare’s quick 42 and Ishan Mulchandani’s 29 set the tone with a 57-run opening partnership. Shreyas Iyer, the Impact Player, added 30 runs off 24 balls, guiding the Falcons to 106/2 by the 12th over. However, after Iyer’s dismissal, the match took a turn as the Royals fought back, creating uncertainty for the Falcons.
“We got a tremendous start, and although there was a middle-order collapse, the players held their instincts well. Finishing in the last over was the icing on the cake. The intent we showed from ball one was the game’s highlight,” noted Shreyas Iyer. He emphasized the learning experience for players in the T20 Mumbai League 2026, expecting them to grow stronger from setbacks.
