A 27-year-old software engineer, Yuvraj Mehta, tragically lost his life when his car collided with a drainage boundary and fell into a deep ditch in Greater Noida. The incident occurred near Sector 150 as Mehta was returning home from work on a foggy Friday night. The absence of reflectors on the road caused his car to hit a high-ground ridge, leading to the fatal plunge.
Eyewitnesses recounted hearing Mehta’s cries for help as his car submerged in the 70-foot-deep water-filled ditch. Despite his distress call to his father, Rajkumar Mehta, rescue efforts took nearly five hours to retrieve him and his vehicle from the ditch. Unfortunately, Mehta was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mehta’s family filed a complaint following the tragedy, blaming the lack of safety measures like reflectors and covered drains for the fatal accident. The incident sparked protests in the area, with residents demanding immediate action to enhance road safety and prevent similar accidents in the future. Authorities assured that any negligence found during the investigation would be addressed, with legal action taken as necessary.
