Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi criticized the Central government for its response to student protests regarding examination paper leaks, stating that the education system is in crisis. Gandhi, in an article in The Hindu shared by the Congress party, accused the Modi government of resorting to violence over dialogue, citing a pattern from farmers to activists. She highlighted that student protests nationwide are demanding accountability and reforms in the education system.

Gandhi expressed concern over the government’s excessive response to student protests, condemning the use of force and violence against demonstrators. She emphasized the need for dialogue with protesting students, urging a more empathetic approach. The Congress leader also raised issues regarding public education, examination reforms, and accountability mechanisms, criticizing the government’s neglect of these crucial areas.

Referring to the challenges faced by students, Gandhi pointed out the impact of centralization, privatization, and politicization on the examination system. She specifically criticized the National Testing Agency (NTA) for its lack of accountability and failure to address recommended reforms. Gandhi highlighted the mounting pressure on students due to unemployment, intense competition, and limited opportunities, emphasizing the need for better support systems.
