South Africa’s Tony de Zorzi and Donovan Ferreira will miss the T20I series against West Indies and the Men’s T20 World Cup due to injuries. De Zorzi’s right hamstring tear from an ODI against India and Ferreira’s left clavicle fracture have sidelined them. Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs will replace them in the squad.
David Miller will also miss the T20Is against West Indies due to an adductor injury. His T20 World Cup participation depends on a fitness test. Rubin Hermann will take his place for the West Indies series. Pacer Lungi Ngidi is expected to recover from a leg issue for the T20 World Cup. Dewald Brevis will undergo a scan after injuring his finger despite a match-winning performance.
The Proteas team, led by Aiden Markram, will face West Indies on January 27 in Paarl, followed by matches on January 29 and 31. Players from the SA20 knockout phase will join on January 26. South Africa’s T20 World Cup squad will depart for India on February 1. The tournament will run from February 7 to March 8, with South Africa starting their campaign against Canada on February 9.
