The South West District Police have apprehended two individuals engaged in a series of alloy wheel thefts after a thorough investigation supported by CCTV footage and technical surveillance. Ankit (37) from Mohan Garden and Ketan Tokas, both residents of New Delhi, have been identified as the culprits. The arrests were executed by the Police Station Kishangarh personnel, who recovered stolen alloy wheels, tires, and tools used in the thefts, along with a Hyundai Aura car utilized in the criminal activities.
The case originated from an online e-FIR (No. 80008769/26) filed on January 29, 2026, by V. Kumar of Katwaria Sarai, reporting the theft of an alloy wheel and tire from his parked Hyundai Aura car. A specialized team was assembled post-FIR registration to solve the case. The investigative team, under the leadership of Inspector Ajai Kumar Yadav and ACP Safdarjung Enclave, Melvin Varghese, worked diligently to trace the suspects.
CCTV footage identified suspicious individuals near the complainant’s vehicle on January 28, leading to the recognition of a Hyundai Aura as the suspect car, registered under Ankit’s name. Through mobile tracking and technical surveillance, the police tracked Ankit’s movements across various areas before apprehending him and the vehicle. Ankit confessed during interrogation, leading to the recovery of stolen alloy wheels and the subsequent arrest of Ketan Tokas, his accomplice.
Both accused individuals, identified as chronic drug users, confessed to committing thefts to support their drug habits. The arrests have resolved three theft cases reported at the Kishangarh police station. The investigation remains ongoing to uncover further details.
