The southwest monsoon has intensified once again in Rajasthan, with the monsoon trough passing through Bikaner. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast active conditions across the state for the next four days, with alerts issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts. Heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for 11 districts, while others are expected to experience moderate to heavy showers along with thunderstorms and lightning.

The recent heavy rainfall in parts of Beawar and Bhilwara districts has caused disruptions, with the highest recorded rainfall at Jagpura (Banswara) measuring 167.0 mm. Other areas also experienced significant rainfall, including Beawar town with 110 mm, Asind and Bagore (Bhilwara) with 120 mm each, Aklera (Jhalawar) with 81 mm, and Jhalrapatan with 73 mm. The downpour led to waterlogging in low-lying localities, affecting normal life in several areas.

The Meteorological Department reported rainfall in Dholpur, Jaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Baran districts. A cyclonic circulation over northeastern Rajasthan and the monsoon trough’s position have boosted rainfall activity in the state. The monsoon is expected to remain active in most districts for the next few days due to these weather conditions.

The widespread rainfall has also brought down daytime temperatures across the state. Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 32.7 degrees Celsius, which is below normal by 2.1 degrees. Other maximum temperatures included 27 degrees Celsius in Ajmer, 30 degrees in Alwar, 29.8 in Kota, 29.6 in Chittorgarh, 30.8 in Dungarpur, with Jaisalmer and Barmer being the hottest places at 40 degrees and 39.3 degrees, respectively.

An orange alert for very heavy rainfall has been issued for several districts, while a yellow alert is in place for other areas. The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall with heavy showers and isolated extremely heavy rainfall spells in various divisions around July 26. Eastern and southeastern Rajasthan are expected to be most impacted during this period.

The ongoing rainfall, driven by a cyclonic circulation and the monsoon trough, is expected to benefit Kharif crops by providing essential moisture for agricultural activities in the state.
