The Spanish national football team has announced a 26-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. Despite concerns over fitness, young talent Lamine Yamal has made the cut. Coach Luis de la Fuente has selected a well-rounded team for the tournament, set to be held in the USA, Mexico, and Canada starting June 11.
Lamine Yamal, a player from FC Barcelona, is anticipated to bring attacking prowess to the Spanish team. However, there are speculations that he might miss the opening game of La Roja’s group stage due to an injury. Unfortunately, midfielder Fermin Lopez will be absent from the squad after undergoing foot surgery for a fracture last week.
Key midfielders like Pedri, Rodri, and Fabin Ruiz will form the core of the Spanish team, while Nico Williams, Dani Olmo, and Ferran Torres are expected to provide speed and creativity in the attacking third. The team is scheduled to play friendly matches against Iraq and Peru on June 4 and 8 before commencing their World Cup campaign.
In Group H of the tournament, the Spanish national team will face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay. Their first match is against Cape Verde on June 14.
