The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Jharkhand is set to commence on Tuesday. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households to distribute enumeration forms to voters and conduct verifications. Voters with pre-mapped details are not required to submit any documents while filling out the forms.
Jharkhand’s Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar highlighted that the primary aim of this initiative is to ensure the inclusion of all eligible Indian citizens in the voters’ list and prevent the enrollment of ineligible individuals. The campaign, overseen by the Election Department, will run until July 29. BLOs will furnish partially pre-filled forms in duplicate to each voter, with one copy to be returned to the BLO and the other kept by the voter as an acknowledgment receipt.
During the campaign period, voters who submit the forms on time will see their names featured in the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on August 5. The Election Commission of India (ECI) emphasized that voters with pre-mapped details generally do not need to provide additional documents. However, in cases where discrepancies arise, voters will be notified to furnish the necessary documents for verification. Subsequently, their names will be added to the final electoral roll post verification.
The Election Department has urged voters whose mapping is pending to ensure accurate details are provided when BLOs visit their residences to complete the process. The Chief Electoral Officer advised the public to rely solely on official sources for electoral roll information, cautioning against believing rumors or misleading content. Official videos and relevant information regarding the process are accessible on the department’s social media platforms.
