A special POCSO court in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj has directed the registration of an FIR against Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and his aide, Mukundanand Giri, for their alleged involvement in the sexual exploitation of two children at his ashram. The FIR, filed under Section 173 (4) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), outlines disturbing details of the minors’ abuse at the ashram by the seer and his associates.
The complaint, lodged by Ashutosh Brahmachari Maharaj from Tulsi Kunj, accuses Swami Avimukteshwaranand and his disciple of subjecting two male children, aged 14 and 17, to repeated sexual abuse for over a year at the ashram. The victims disclosed their ordeal during the Magh mela, seeking help from Ashutosh Brahmachari Maharaj and police protection.
Allegedly, the minors, who aspired to be disciples, were coerced to view the abuse as “guru seva” during events like Maha Kumbh 2025 and Magh Mela 2026. They were reportedly forced to sleep unclothed at the ashram and then sexually exploited at night, including incidents inside a car and a makeshift camp during the recent Magh mela.
