Special voter registration and revision camps are currently underway at all 4,079 polling stations in Chennai district as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The Greater Chennai Corporation announced this initiative in compliance with the Election Commission of India’s directives to ensure accurate and comprehensive voter lists for the upcoming elections.
The draft electoral roll for Chennai district was made public on December 19, 2025, initiating a period for filing claims and objections until January 18, 2026. Eligible citizens can utilize this one-month window to apply for inclusion, correction, or deletion of names in the electoral roll. To enhance voter accessibility, special camps were previously held on December 27 and 28, 2025, and on January 3 and 4, 2026, with substantial public participation.
Continuing the drive, special camps were also conducted on Saturday, and the initiative has now been extended to Sunday, covering all 4,079 polling stations district-wide. The Greater Chennai Corporation encourages citizens, especially those missing from the draft electoral roll or newly eligible voters at 18 years of age, to take advantage of this opportunity by submitting Form 6 for name inclusion.
Authorities emphasize the importance of accurate voter data for seamless elections and urge all eligible individuals to verify their details and submit necessary applications by the deadline of January 18, 2026.
