Several specialized teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have been sent to the Jalandhar blast site for an independent investigation following an explosion near the Border Security Force’s Punjab Frontier headquarters. The teams are working to determine the cause of the blast that occurred around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
The blast, suspected to have been triggered by a scooter catching fire, is under investigation by the Punjab Police. The scooter belonged to Gurpreet Singh, a courier company employee, who is currently being questioned by the police. Another explosion near Khasa Cantonment in Amritsar followed the Jalandhar incident, prompting the deployment of security agencies, including the Indian Army and Punjab Police, to investigate.
The explosion in Amritsar, which took place around 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, led to the deployment of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and forensic teams to the site. Samples and material evidence have been collected by the Forensic Science Laboratory team for analysis to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
SP Aditya Warrier confirmed the incidents, stating that both locations were inspected by the bomb disposal squad and forensic team. The Army has cordoned off the area near Khasa Cantonment, maintaining heightened surveillance due to its proximity to the cantonment. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities awaiting further details.
