A galaxy of sporting stars, including Olympians and world champions, is set to participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2. Notable Indian athletes like Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu, and Lovlina Borgohain will lead the Indian contingent at the event.

The 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games will showcase 10 sports, featuring six Para sports alongside traditional events. Competitions will be held at four venues within an eight-mile corridor, including Scotstoun Stadium, Scottish Event Campus (SEC), the Glasgow International Arena, and Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

India, which secured 61 medals in the previous Commonwealth Games, has sent a 125-member contingent to Glasgow, encompassing para-athletics as well. The Indian athletics squad, spearheaded by Neeraj Chopra, the javelin throw champion from the 2018 Games, comprises national record holders and accomplished international medallists.

The Commonwealth Games 2026 schedule in Glasgow encompasses disciplines such as athletics, swimming, basketball, cycling, weightlifting, bowls, gymnastics, netball, boxing, and judo. India’s campaign kicks off with Lawn Bowls, an event that brought home one gold and one silver medal in the 2022 Birmingham Games.

Australia led the medal tally in Birmingham 2022 with 179 medals, followed closely by Team England and Team Scotland. Powerhouses like Canada, India, and New Zealand are expected to vie for top honors in the upcoming Games as well.
