The Sri Ganganagar court has directed gangster Rohit Godara from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to attend court by January 19. Failure to appear will lead to the trial proceeding in his absence under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). A case was lodged against Rohit Godara at the Sadar Police Station in Sri Ganganagar on June 4, 2025, for extorting money from a businessman and threatening his family with harm. The businessman reported receiving ransom demands and threats via WhatsApp from a foreign number.
When the accused, including Rajkumar alias Rocket, Kuldeep Kumar, Neeraj Swami, and Shyamsunder, showed up at the businessman’s shop to collect the initial installment of Rs 5 lakh, the police apprehended them along with a car. All four individuals were linked to Rohit Godara, and a charge sheet was subsequently filed against them in court. The police seized Rs 5 lakh in cash and the Fortuner car used in the crime.
Investigations revealed that the accused were following the direct orders of notorious gangster Rohit Godara, a prominent member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Despite being on the run, a charge sheet has been submitted against Rohit Godara under Section 335 of the BNSS, with a request for a trial in absentia under Section 356. Rohit Godara, hailing from Bikaner, has been a prominent figure in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for years, involved in extorting large sums from businessmen across various Rajasthan districts using threats and foreign numbers.
