Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has named Jamie Siddons, a former Australian cricketer, as the head coach of the senior women’s team. Siddons, who previously coached the Bangladesh senior men’s team from 2007 to 2011, will assume his new role on March 16, 2026. His initial task will be leading the Sri Lanka Women’s Tour of Bangladesh in April–May 2026.
Jamie Siddons, a Level 3 qualified coach, brings a wealth of experience, having captained both South Australia and Victoria in his extensive first-class career. He has also served as head coach for South Australia’s Redbacks team and the Wellington Firebirds in New Zealand. Additionally, Siddons worked as an assistant coach for the Australian team and at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) before the 2005 Ashes.
In preparation for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England from June 12 to July 5, Siddons will focus on getting Sri Lanka ready. The team’s recent success includes winning the ODI series against the West Indies 2-1 and securing a 2-0 T20I series victory. Sri Lanka’s campaign in Group 2 of the World Cup will kick off against England on June 12 in Birmingham.
Sri Lanka’s schedule in the tournament includes matches against New Zealand, the West Indies, Ireland, and Scotland. Siddons will lead the team through these crucial fixtures as they aim to make an impact in the prestigious event.
