Sri Lanka Cricket has named Lasith Malinga, a prominent bowler in white-ball cricket, as the Consultant- Fast Bowling Coach for the national men’s team. Malinga, known for his unique sling bowling style, brings extensive experience, having played in various formats and claimed numerous wickets for Sri Lanka.
Malinga’s appointment is on a short-term basis for one month, aimed at enhancing the team’s preparations for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The cricket board aims to utilize Malinga’s expertise in fast bowling, especially in death overs, to bolster Sri Lanka’s performance in the tournament.
With a rich history in T20 cricket and international matches, Malinga’s role as a Consultant Coach is crucial in refining Sri Lanka’s fast bowlers for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament, jointly hosted by Sri Lanka and India, is set to kick off on February 7, 2026, with the opening match scheduled at the SSC, Colombo.
