Hasini Perera’s impressive 95-run innings led Sri Lanka Women to a convincing seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the final ODI at Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium. This win also sealed the series for Sri Lanka with a 2-1 scoreline.
Bangladesh, batting first, posted 213/8 in 50 overs, highlighted by Sobhana Mostary’s 74 runs. In response, Sri Lanka chased down the target in 46.3 overs, thanks to Perera’s stellar performance.
Despite an early setback with the dismissal of captain Chamari Athapaththu, Perera anchored the innings superbly, forming crucial partnerships with Imesha Dulani and Harshitha Samarawickrama.
Perera’s composed knock of 95 off 131 deliveries, including 13 boundaries, was instrumental in Sri Lanka’s successful chase. She partnered with Dulani for a vital 108-run stand before combining with Samarawickrama for another crucial 78-run partnership.
Although Perera fell just short of a century, her contributions, along with Harshitha’s unbeaten 44, ensured Sri Lanka reached the target comfortably. The victory was a team effort, with Hansima Karunaratne also playing a key role in the closing stages.
In the bowling department, Kavisha Dilhari stood out for Sri Lanka, claiming three wickets, while Nimasha Meepage and others supported well. Despite efforts from Bangladesh bowlers, including Marufa Akter’s two wickets, they couldn’t disrupt Sri Lanka’s momentum.
The focus now shifts to the upcoming T20I series, starting on April 28 in Sylhet.
