Sri Lanka’s major newspapers in Colombo featured full-page ads commemorating ‘Operation Sindoor’, India’s military response to terror activities, and paying respects to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The ads, which appeared in English, Sinhala, and Tamil editions, honored the 26 individuals who lost their lives in the tragic incident. India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, shared these tributes published by the Indian community in Colombo.
The advertisements, published in leading newspapers across Sri Lanka, were part of a campaign initiated by the Indian community in Colombo to acknowledge ‘Operation Sindoor’, conducted on May 7, 2025, targeting terrorist camps associated with groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba. These precision strikes underscored India’s strong stance against terrorism. The ads expressed solidarity with terror victims and support for India’s anti-terror efforts, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
Santosh Jha highlighted the commemorative gestures in the newspapers, reflecting support for the victims of terrorism and India’s counter-terrorism actions. The ads featured messages honoring the innocent lives lost in the Pahalgam attack and condemning the perpetrators. The initiative in Sri Lanka, marking one year since ‘Operation Sindoor’, is seen as part of India’s diplomatic efforts to combat terrorism globally.
