Amid online criticism regarding the viral “Rs 370 Biryani” video, stand-up comedian Pranit More issued an apology on Saturday. More acknowledged his mistake of not intervening during the performance when inappropriate comments were made. He expressed regret for giving those remarks a platform and escalating the situation.
The comedian admitted to a lapse in judgment and stated that he deserved the backlash received. More emphasized that he should have taken a stand against the derogatory comments made. He apologized to those hurt by the incident and assured that he is cooperating with legal proceedings and working on improving himself.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned More and web developer Himanshu Jangra over alleged remarks made during a stand-up show in Gurugram. The comments were criticized for appearing to endorse sexual coercion. The controversy stemmed from Jangra’s account involving a date and a reference to seeking sexual favors in exchange for money spent on biryani.
Amid the backlash, a Gurugram-based firm terminated Jangra’s employment due to the controversial remarks made during the performance.
