The State Backward Classes Awareness Forum plans to host an Ahinda convention backing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on January 25, 2026, in Mysuru. The event aims to demonstrate support for the Chief Minister. Ahinda leaders, including Forum President K. Shivaram, coordinator Yogesh, and senior leader Nanjundaswamy, have finalized the date, venue, and expected attendance of 25,000 to 30,000 people.
The convention, which CM Siddaramaiah will not personally attend, will invite authors, progressive thinkers, and selected Congress party leaders. It is being organized to advocate for Siddaramaiah’s uninterrupted leadership as the sole representative of Ahinda groups in the state. In Ahinda, ‘A’ signifies minorities, ‘HIND’ represents OBCs, and ‘D’ denotes SCs and STs.
Shivaram emphasized that Siddaramaiah’s removal could jeopardize the Congress party’s Ahinda vote bank. The event aims to underscore Siddaramaiah’s significance to the party. Responding from Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed well wishes regarding the Ahinda convention’s show of strength.
At a press conference in Delhi, Shivakumar reaffirmed his commitment as a party worker over holding any specific position. Congress MLA K.N. Rajanna, a close aide of CM Siddaramaiah, suggested that the party high command might not interfere in the state’s leadership matters. Any decisions on leadership changes in Karnataka will be solely at the discretion of the party high command.
