India’s largest steelmaking public sector company, Steel Authority of India Limited, announced a significant milestone with its best-ever sales of 20.14 million tonnes in the fiscal year 2026, marking an 11.5% increase from the previous year’s 18.07 million tonnes. The growth was widespread, with sales climbing in all product categories, while crude steel output reached a record 19.43 million tonnes and saleable steel production hit 19.176 million tonnes, surpassing previous records.
The company highlighted its exceptional performance in various sectors, including supplying a record 1.25 million tonnes to Indian Railways from the Universal Rail Mill and achieving a remarkable 162% growth in exports, reaching 2.9 lakh tonnes and expanding into new international markets like Bhutan. Steel Authority of India Limited emphasized its commitment to sustainable and competitive steelmaking through operational excellence, showcasing improved efficiency parameters.
Krishna Kumar Singh, Director (Personnel), has taken on the additional role of Chairman & Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Limited, leveraging his four decades of extensive experience in diverse functions such as steel plant operations, human resource development, vigilance, and personnel & administration. Singh, known for transforming the company’s human resources, has introduced progressive employee welfare and development schemes to ensure a future-ready workforce.
