Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins is set to rejoin the team on Friday evening, ahead of their upcoming match against Chennai Super Kings. However, Cummins is expected to make his return to action on April 25 against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, as confirmed by head coach Daniel Vettori. Cummins had been sidelined due to a lumbar stress injury and had returned to Australia for a fitness test after initially joining the squad on March 27.
The absence of Cummins led SRH to test their pace attack, resulting in impressive performances by debutant fast bowlers Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain. Both bowlers showcased their talent by claiming four-wicket hauls against RR at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Vettori expressed satisfaction with their bowling group’s effectiveness but mentioned the possibility of tactical adjustments based on match conditions.
Vettori highlighted the remarkable bowling spell that restricted RR to 9 for 5, praising the bowlers’ confidence against formidable opponents. He commended the courage shown by the inexperienced bowlers against established batsmen like Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal. Vettori also expressed confidence in openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, emphasizing the importance of their aggressive approach and the team’s reliance on their partnership for success.
