Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins commended Ishan Kishan for his mature and decisive innings as SRH defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets to secure a spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs. Kishan’s 70 runs off 47 balls played a crucial role in SRH’s successful chase of 181 runs, with Heinrich Klaasen contributing 47 runs to the victory.
Cummins expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, especially given the challenging conditions at Chepauk, where the pitch posed difficulties. He highlighted the importance of partnerships in the game and praised the batters for adapting well to the conditions.
Acknowledging SRH’s usual aggressive batting style, Cummins noted the team’s need for patience on a pitch where the ball did not come onto the bat easily. Despite this, Kishan and Abhishek Sharma’s partnership, followed by Kishan’s smart strike rotation with Klaasen, ensured SRH’s control throughout the chase.
Cummins lauded Kishan for his leadership under pressure, emphasizing the significance of the win. While acknowledging areas for improvement, he expressed overall satisfaction with the team’s performance. SRH currently holds the third position in the points table with 16 points in 13 matches and is set to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 22 at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.
