The 2016 IPL champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad, have faced a setback in the ongoing season as all-rounder Brydon Carse is out of the tournament due to injury, without playing a single match. Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been announced as Carse’s replacement by the team.
Madushanka, a left-arm medium pacer with international experience, has been brought in for INR 75 lakh. He previously played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and is set to strengthen SRH’s bowling unit, which includes young talents like Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, along with experienced bowlers like Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat.
Despite not having played in the IPL before, Madushanka is known for his early swing bowling skills. With Pat Cummins expected to join the team soon, Ishan Kishan is currently leading SRH, who have won two out of five matches this season and hold the fourth position in the points table with a positive net run rate.
In their recent match, SRH defeated Rajasthan Royals with an impressive bowling performance by Praful and Sakib, who each took four wickets. The team will now face Chennai Super Kings at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, in the upcoming fixture.
