Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by captain Ishan Kishan’s impressive 80 off 38 balls and a quick 43 off 18 balls by Aniket Verma, scored 201/9 in their 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 opening match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Despite losing three wickets early on, a strong partnership of 97 runs off 53 balls between Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen stabilized SRH’s innings.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Jacob Duffy stood out on his IPL debut, taking 3-22 with his well-executed back of the length deliveries, while Romario Shepherd also contributed with 3-54. Kishan played a crucial role for SRH, combining solid defense with aggressive batting to propel the team past the 200-run mark. His innings featured a fifty off 32 balls, including eight fours and five sixes.
Although RCB bowlers kept taking wickets, Aniket’s aggressive batting, including three fours and four sixes, provided a late surge for SRH. Despite Shepherd dismissing Aniket in the 19th over, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to set a challenging target for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in front of their home crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
