The Supreme Court is set to hear a series of public interest litigations on Monday regarding alleged financial irregularities at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya. The petitions call for a court-monitored investigation into the management of donations and offerings received by the trust. The Bench, comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, will address these matters.
Among the petitions to be heard are those filed by advocate Narendra Kumar Goswami, Ajay Kumar Rai, and RJD MP Sudhakar Singh. Goswami’s plea emphasizes the need for preserving records and ensuring transparency in the administration of temple offerings. The petition highlights the significance of offerings made to a deity in a public temple as sacred trust property, demanding accountability and transparency from those handling such donations.
Advocating for the preservation of records, CCTV footage, and digital logs related to donations and offerings at the temple, the petition also calls for an independent forensic audit of all donations received by the Trust. MP Sudhakar Singh’s petition seeks the transfer of the ongoing probe to the CBI under the Supreme Court’s direct monitoring. It further proposes the appointment of a temporary court-monitored oversight committee to supervise the Trust’s financial affairs and ensure transparency in its operations.
