The Surat district administration has initiated a comprehensive post-flood recovery effort, aiming to restore normalcy, business activities, and commercial operations in the city’s worst-affected areas within 48 to 72 hours after the floodwaters recede.

Under the supervision of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, a large-scale relief and restoration operation is underway. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi led a high-level review meeting attended by district coordination officers, senior officials of the Surat Municipal Corporation, and the district administration.

Sanghavi instructed officials to prioritize rapid drainage of waterlogged areas, extensive sanitation and cleaning activities, and public health measures to prevent water-borne diseases from spreading.

The administration has conducted a door-to-door survey of over 9,100 affected families. Financial aid of Rs 6,800 each has been provided to more than 800 families for essential household needs and cash assistance.

Teams are working diligently to ensure all eligible families receive the necessary aid promptly. The government is also evaluating the damages suffered by traders in various markets, shops, and commercial areas across Surat.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will review the survey results to decide on government assistance for affected traders in the upcoming days. The government is actively collecting data to expedite financial support and has established a dedicated helpline for any missed households to seek assistance.

The entire government machinery, district administration, and municipal corporation are working tirelessly under the Chief Minister’s guidance to restore normalcy swiftly. Surat is expected to bounce back resiliently and resume its developmental role in the nation.
