The body of the suspect involved in the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl was discovered in a lake in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district. Identified as Kulavardhan, aged 30, his body was found in Kanasanipalli village Kuralabalakota mandal. Locals spotted the body and promptly informed the police, leading to its transfer to a government hospital in Madanapalle town for a post-mortem examination.
Kulavardhan is believed to have died by suicide, prompting the police to initiate an investigation after registering a case. This discovery came shortly after a widespread search for him was launched by the authorities. The tragic incident unfolded when the body of the young girl was recovered from a drum at Kulavardhan’s residence the previous day.
The victim, a second-grade student and daughter of a local handloom worker, had gone missing on a holiday. Her parents, upon returning home and failing to locate her, reported her disappearance to the police. As Kulavardhan, a neighbor with a criminal history, was linked to the case, the police found the girl’s body in his locked house, leading to further revelations of rape and murder.
The heinous crime sparked public outrage, with locals demanding justice for the victim. Protests ensued on the National Highway, halting traffic until assurances from the district SP K Dheeraj were given regarding the apprehension of the culprit. Madanapalle MLA Shahjahan Basha expressed profound sorrow over the incident, extending government support to the grieving family.
