Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, has accused the Trinamool Congress and its political consultancy firm I-PAC of jointly harassing individuals summoned by the Election Commission of India for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearings. Adhikari led a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation to meet Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, highlighting alleged voter harassment due to errors by election officials with the involvement of I-PAC.
The West Bengal BJP submitted deputations in various District Election Officers’ offices across the state to protest against this alleged illegal practice. Adhikari’s allegations coincide with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s confrontation with security personnel in Delhi over the SIR-related issues faced by families, emphasizing her quest for justice rather than agitation.
Adhikari claimed that Banerjee and I-PAC have been instilling fear among citizens since the voter revision exercise began in November last year. He further accused the Chief Minister of using I-PAC personnel to influence election officials into making errors in SIR forms. Adhikari stated that he has written to the State Chief Secretary seeking an appointment to address this matter formally.
