Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj, the treasurer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has strongly condemned political figures for trying to take advantage of the ongoing dispute over alleged donation theft at the Ram Mandir. He accused certain leaders of feigning devotion to Lord Ram for political gain, despite their past actions that showed otherwise. The senior Trust official indirectly criticized those who had previously authorized firing on Ram bhakts but are now posing as devotees of Lord Ram.

He pointed out the irony in the situation, noting that these individuals had never shown any faith in Lord Ram and had even attended “iftar” parties instead of participating in Ram bhakti activities. Swami Govind Dev Giri expressed suspicion about the sudden display of “Ram bhakti” by these individuals, suggesting that they were conspiring against Hindutva and attempting to sow discord in the country. He emphasized that the Trust is committed to transparency and ensuring that donations are used appropriately for the temple’s development.

The Trust has been under scrutiny due to allegations of misappropriation of devotees’ contributions, leading to the resignation of key officials like former General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra. To address these concerns, the Trust has appointed retired IFS officer Krishna Mohan as the interim General Secretary. Swami Govind Dev Giri reiterated the importance of safeguarding the sacred donations made by millions of devotees and ensuring they are not misused. The Uttar Pradesh SIT is actively investigating the theft case, which has already resulted in several arrests.
