The Swiss Ambassador to India, Maya Tissafi, met with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to talk about collaboration in sustainable tourism and other areas. Discussions included topics like sustainable tourism, horticulture, vocational training, food processing, and agriculture. Tissafi also highlighted Swiss contributions to the region, particularly in hydropower technology and infrastructure development.
During her visit to the Kashmir Valley, the Swiss Ambassador also met with the Chief Secretary and a People’s Conference MLA. She mentioned the resemblance between Kashmir and Switzerland, emphasizing the stunning beauty of Kashmir’s mountains. Tissafi shared her pride in how Swiss expertise is aiding the region’s progress through various projects.
In her official statement, the Swiss Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the productive meetings in Srinagar with local officials. She highlighted the potential for collaboration in various sectors in Kashmir, from sustainable tourism to vocational training and agriculture.
