The Sydney Sixers have named Matthew Mott as the head coach for the Big Bash League for the next two seasons. Mott, a four-time World Cup-winning coach, previously served as a Sixers BBL assistant coach and will now lead the BBL program. A new WBBL head coach will be announced shortly, transitioning Mott into his new role.
Mott expressed his excitement about the opportunity, citing the club’s proud history and winning culture. While he won’t continue as the WBBL Head Coach, he acknowledged the talent within the men’s program and wished the women’s team well. Mott had successful coaching stints with England’s men’s white-ball side and the Australian women’s team, achieving significant milestones in both roles.
Apart from his coaching roles, Mott has a rich cricketing background, having played for Queensland and Victoria in first-class cricket. With extensive coaching experience and a strong playing career, Mott brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position with the Sydney Sixers.
