The Tamil Nadu Cabinet, led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, will convene to sanction the State Budget for 2026-27, paving the way for its introduction in the Legislative Assembly in early August.
This meeting, set at the Secretariat, is anticipated to finalize the government’s inaugural comprehensive Budget since the TVK-led administration took office earlier this year. The Budget is poised to mirror the new government’s governance priorities and outline its economic roadmap for the ongoing financial year.
Being the first Budget of the TVK government, it is expected to encompass various welfare measures, development projects, and policy declarations aimed at fulfilling the party’s electoral commitments.
Chief Minister Vijay has conducted a series of sessions with ministers, senior officials, and department secretaries in recent weeks to scrutinize Budget proposals from different departments. These consultations have concentrated on pinpointing priority sectors, assessing new schemes, and settling crucial allocations before presenting the Budget document for Cabinet endorsement.
During the session, the Cabinet is projected to deliberate on the key aspects of both the State Budget and the Agriculture Budget. Ministers are likely to discuss significant proposals to be included in both documents before granting their official approval.
