Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay praised the artists and technicians of the Tamil film industry for winning 10 honors at the 72nd National Film Awards. He described this achievement as a moment of pride for the state and a testament to the industry’s creative prowess. The awards, announced in New Delhi, recognized films released in 2024, with Tamil cinema excelling in various categories such as best feature film, direction, acting, editing, and more.
Vijay extended his congratulations to actor-director Dhanush for his film Raayan winning the Best Tamil Feature Film award and also receiving a Special Mention for Best Actor for his role in Captain Miller. He commended the team behind Amaran, with director Rajkumar Periasamy winning Best Director, editor R. Kalaivanan for Best Editing, and composer G. V. Prakash Kumar for Best Background Music.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged the success of the film Maharaja, with stunt choreographer Anal Arasu winning for Best Stunt Choreography and actor Sachana Namidass for Best Supporting Actress. Other recipients from Tamil Nadu included Suren G. for a Special Mention in Audiography for Meiyazhagan and T. S. Hariharasudhan for Best Sound Design for the short film Blue, highlighting the state’s technical filmmaking expertise.
Vijay emphasized that these awards are a recognition of the creativity and dedication of the Tamil film industry. He expressed hope that this acknowledgment would inspire future filmmakers and artists to strive for excellence, wishing all the winners continued success in their endeavors and predicting a bright future for Tamil cinema on the national and international stage.
