Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has pledged complete cooperation to the Kerala government in its efforts to combat narcotics. This commitment came after a meeting with Kerala’s Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, focusing on enhancing inter-state coordination to tackle drug trafficking, especially along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.
Chennithala, addressing the media post the meeting, stated that Vijay had agreed to collaborate closely with Kerala to dismantle organized drug networks and prevent the illegal movement of drugs across state boundaries. Additionally, Vijay has accepted an invitation to visit Kerala and participate in the state’s anti-drug awareness initiatives.
The involvement of the Chief Minister in Kerala’s anti-drug campaign is expected to raise awareness among students and youth, who are increasingly targeted by drug syndicates. Malayalam actor Mohanlal continues to play a crucial role as Kerala’s ambassador for the anti-drug campaign, emphasizing the need for a collective effort involving political leaders, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and the public.
In a joint effort to combat drug trafficking, security measures along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border will be reinforced to curb drug movements and disrupt interstate trafficking routes. Chennithala also revealed that a meeting of the Directors General of Police from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry was held recently to devise a unified action plan against narcotics.
