In a significant administrative change at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) will be moving from its long-standing location at Fort St. George to Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai (NKM). This move comes as a response to the space constraints faced by the current CMO in accommodating officials, visitors, and delegations meeting Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
The decision to relocate the CMO is aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and visitor management. The new office, situated on the 10th floor of Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai, will provide a panoramic view of the Bay of Bengal. Preparatory work for the transition has already commenced, with furniture and infrastructure being shifted to make way for the new office.
The relocation will also involve moving several government departments currently operating on the 10th floor to different locations within the Fort St. George Secretariat campus. Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai, a 10-storey Secretariat annex, houses offices of Secretaries and sections of 34 government departments, making it a crucial administrative hub in the state.
