Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin criticized the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), emphasizing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frequent visits to the state would only increase the alliance’s defeat margin in the upcoming Assembly election.
Stalin, speaking at an event in Nagercoil where welfare assistance was distributed, highlighted the Prime Minister’s increased visits to Tamil Nadu before the elections. He pointed out that the more PM Modi visits, the larger the NDA’s defeat margin, with even the PM’s allies expressing concerns about the political impact.
Accusing the Union government of neglecting Tamil Nadu, Stalin mentioned the approval of a Metro Rail project for Gujarat while no similar project was sanctioned for Tamil Nadu. He criticized the lack of allocation for Tamil Nadu in the recent Budget, labeling it as the Centre’s biased treatment.
Positioning the election as a battle between Tamil Nadu and the NDA, Stalin stressed the importance of the state being governed locally rather than from Delhi. He highlighted the significance of the polls in determining Tamil Nadu’s autonomy and raised concerns about Tamil Nadu fishermen being arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy.
Questioning the BJP’s actions over the past 12 years regarding the fishermen issue, Stalin held the Centre responsible, asking about the control of the External Affairs Ministry and the Navy. Criticizing the AIADMK-BJP alliance as weak, he praised the “Dravidian Model” government’s achievements, citing an 11.19% growth rate.
Stalin expressed confidence in the DMK returning to power with “Dravidian Model 2.0,” surpassing its current performance. The event was attended by several ministers, legislators, and local leaders.
