Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to visit New Delhi for a three-day trip starting Wednesday to participate in the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit follows his recent official trip to the capital after assuming office. During his previous visit, Chief Minister Vijay met with Prime Minister Modi to discuss various issues concerning Tamil Nadu, including concerns about the Mekedatu dam project in Karnataka and challenges faced by Tamil Nadu fishermen. The upcoming NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, scheduled for June 11, will bring together Chief Ministers from different states to discuss policy priorities, economic development, and infrastructure projects.
Chief Minister Vijay is expected to depart from Chennai early Wednesday morning and fly to New Delhi for the meeting. He aims to emphasize Tamil Nadu’s development needs and seek increased support from the Union government for key projects. There is anticipation surrounding the visit as there are indications that Vijay might meet with senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi during his stay in New Delhi. These potential meetings hold significance due to the Congress’ crucial role as an ally in Tamil Nadu’s ruling coalition, offering a platform for discussions on state and national political matters.
