Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to conduct his first joint conference with District Collectors and senior police officers to assess governance, law and order, and development priorities before presenting the revised Budget for 2026-27. The conference, scheduled for June 29-30, will focus on 43 key governance issues spanning public administration, policing, welfare, agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure. Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar has already engaged with Collectors and officials as part of the preparatory process.
The upcoming sessions will emphasize enhancing law and order by addressing challenges like drug trafficking, cybercrime, illegal mining, illicit liquor and tobacco sales, ensuring corruption-free public services, and combating crimes against women. Additionally, the review will encompass aspects such as the execution of pending warrants, monitoring habitual offenders, addressing caste-related matters, and expediting cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Furthermore, the conference will evaluate the implementation of key acts like the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, safeguarding senior citizens, supporting migrant workers, promoting road safety, and overseeing the Singapenn Adiradi Padai scheme. Discussions will also touch upon civic concerns including stray dog management and the effectiveness of the Public Distribution System.
District-wise performance evaluations across vital departments will be conducted during separate sessions for District Collectors. Topics like the Agristack farmers’ registry, digital crop surveys, farmers’ markets, and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) will be discussed in the agriculture sector. Revenue administration will be scrutinized through talks on online revenue services, patta issuance, land identification for public projects, and disaster readiness.
The government’s agenda will extend to matters like reclaiming encroached temple lands, enhancing civic amenities around temples, expanding rooftop solar projects, promoting green energy initiatives, tuberculosis control, non-communicable disease screening, higher education enrollment, and prevention of ragging. Additionally, the conference will address infrastructure issues, language promotion in administration, MSME loan distribution, water supply, housing schemes, welfare for unorganised workers and persons with disabilities, water body restoration, encroachment removal, and tourism development, setting the stage for the government’s future administrative priorities.
