The Tamil Nadu government, as stated by Energy and Law Minister R. Nirmalkumar, has affirmed that no one involved in the alleged encroachment of Palani temple land or the custodial death of a remand prisoner in Nagercoil will be protected. Strict legal measures will be implemented in both cases. The Minister assured a fair and transparent investigation into the land encroachment issue concerning the Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani.
He dismissed claims of influential “power centers” influencing the matter and assured an unbiased probe. The government’s commitment to safeguarding temple properties was emphasized, with a promise to take legal action against any wrongdoers identified post the investigation. Nirmalkumar reiterated that justice would prevail regardless of the individuals’ status or influence.
In response to queries about the custodial death of Sabarivarman in Nagercoil, Minister Nirmalkumar mentioned Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s directive for immediate action. He reiterated the government’s stance against shielding anyone involved in the incident, emphasizing that all responsible parties would be held accountable under the law. The administration’s dedication to ensuring accountability in custodial death cases was highlighted, with a commitment to transparency and justice.
Accusing both the DMK and the AIADMK of seeking an alliance with the BJP, Nirmalkumar also alleged attempts to destabilize the ruling TVK government by enticing its MLAs with ₹50 crore each. Addressing reforms in the Registration Department, the Minister criticized the fixed percentages collected during document registrations in the previous DMK regime. He mentioned the TVK government’s efforts to eliminate such practices, enhance transparency, accountability, and curb corruption in property registration services.
