The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) aims to enhance eco-tourism by introducing camping and glamping facilities at Jawadhu Hills in Tiruvannamalai district. Covering 7.65 acres, this lesser-known hill spot is being revamped to promote sustainable and experiential tourism, attracting both local and international travelers. TTDC officials stress the importance of eco-friendly tourism models that offer visitors a chance to immerse themselves in nature responsibly.
TTDC is strategically identifying picturesque spots in Tamil Nadu to establish camping facilities with necessary amenities. Jawadhu Hills, known for its tranquil scenery and tourism prospects, has been chosen as a prime location for this initiative. The initial groundwork at the 7.65-acre site has already been completed.
Under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, TTDC has invited bids from private entities to create a detailed project plan and execute the camping project. The selected partner will construct semi-permanent lodging options like luxury tents, safari tents, glamping domes, and eco-friendly cottages. The concessionaire will handle the project’s financing, operations, and maintenance.
Authorities assure that all developments will be carried out at Jawadhu Hills without disrupting the natural environment. The focus remains on sustainable construction practices and eco-conscious operations. This project, expected to finish within the year, signifies Tamil Nadu’s commitment to broadening its tourism offerings and encouraging environmentally conscious travel experiences.
